Artist Statement
My goal is to create arresting, beautiful images. Subject matter includes classical landscapes, nudes, still life, birds and animals, and complete fantasy. I hope to elicit an emotional response from the viewer, but have no particular message or preachment to impart. If I can create beauty and wonder, then I am happy.
Process Statement
Making the print, as a hand crafted object, is nearly as important as capturing the initial image. I often photograph with a 4x5 view camera and scan the negative into Photoshop. After extensive editing the image is output as a full size digital negative. This negative is then used to make a contact print. Usually I print in palladium, often with a layer of colored gum added. This workflow allows me to use the best of photo technology, from Fox Talbot to digital, to create the print I want.
